The Agrigold issue today derailed the Assembly proceedings leading to two adjournments in the morning. Opposition YSR Congress members demanded debate on the Agrigold scam in which thousands of depositors lost their money as they were cheated by the management of the company. The YSRC submitted an adjournment motion demanding a debate in the House setting aside the question hour. Suggesting that the matter could be taken up after the question hour, speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao disallowed the adjournment motion. On behalf of the government chief whip Kalava Srinivasulu and minister Atchannaiud assured the members that the government was ready for debate on the subject and opposed the suspension of the question hour. But demanding immediate debate, the opposition members raised slogans demanding debate and justice to the depositors. ” Your are demanding debate today and the government is also willing to take up the subject today, we can have the debate in the post-lunch session,” Speaker suggested. As the members did not pay heed to his suggestion to allow the question hour, speaker Kodela adjourned the house for five minutes and later for ten minutes. BJP member Vishnukumar Raju said the issue did warrant an immediate debate, there was no need cancel the question hour. Many ruling party members also felt it could be debated in the afternoon. Minister Atchannaidu said the Opposition party raised 20 days after the commencement of the session and could wait till afternoon for the debate. Kalava Srinivasulu deplored that the YSRC wants to subvert the agenda of the house which was finalized with consent of the Opposition party.
Later, after two adjournments, opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy agreed for the debate in the afternoon and announced that party MLAs would cooperate to the conduct of the regular business;
