If the youth of Andhra Pradesh are upbeat following the recent cabinet decision on job recruitment, they are in for a shock. The government has clarified that the jobs in the government are limited, and they have to depend on private sector. This is really a message to opposition leader and YSRC president Jaganmohan Reddy that he can go ahead on his campaign’ Yuva Bheri’ to organize youth in the name of jobs.
When chief minister Chandrababu Naidu announced in the recently concluded Assembly session that state government would start recruitment process for about 22,000 posts, everybody thought it was only a beginning and the process would disarm Opposition leader Jagan and his Yuva Bheri’ lose the steam.
As there has been no recruitment for ages, students and youth thought there must be more than a lakh vacancies in the state government. They thought the bifurcation of the state was blessing in disguise as there would be no competition from the Telangna region. But finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu dampened the spirit of the youth. He said there are only 22,000 vacancies available in the government and not 1,42,825 as was being made out.
The cabinet decision to initiate the process recruitment has raised hopes among the students and youth of the state. Now the government clarified that only 22, 226 posts were vacant in successor state of Andhra Pradesh. ” The claim that there are 1,42,825 have fallen vacant is patently incorrect,” he said in a statement. According to the government, as on January 1, 2016 the total number of sanctioned posts in the government is 4,83,491 of which 77m737 are vacant positions. These posts include the post to be filled by direct recruitment, promotion and transfers from other services. ” Direct recruitment to any cadre usually would be around 25 pc to 30 pc. of total cadre strength. The posts at the lowest level are always filled by outsourcing method,” the minister said. For those who are expecting jobs, the finance minister has a suggestion , they should better look at private sector. Ramakrishnudu said the government had created 76,818 jobs in MSME, mega and large industries during 2015-16. “During 2016-17 industrial units worth Rs 11,500 crore will be grounded and they will create huge employment potential in private sector,” the minister said.
It may be recalled here that TDP’s principal slogan during 2014 election was that “vote for Babu if you want a job”, “Babu comes, Jobs follow”.
