Indicating that all is not well with Telangana Congress, Senior leader and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy today resigned from TPCC as a special invitee and member of coordination committee.
He dismissed the reports that he had plans to join TRS.
Sudhakar is a loyal party leader, who rose from NSUI to AICC in the past 30 years. He was AICC secretary before being nominated to the Legislative Council. Even though he has not resigned from the party , his symbolic resignation is a matter of concern, because Sudhakar resigned at a time when many party MLAs are switching loyalties to TRS. This sends across an impression that the present leadership is not inspiring confidence in the party. So, the letter, he had sent to the party leadership in Hyderabad and New Delhi sent shock waves across in the party.
Talking to telugu360.com Sudhakar Reddy said he was shocked by the way the appointments were made in TPCC executive. His complaint is that the leadership is taking decisions unilaterally. ” In recommending the names to party high command to be appointed to the party executive, PCC leadership must take all senior leaders into confidence. I am one of the senior most leaders in the party. I am totally ignored while picking candidate for executive,” he said. He said he was not consulted even in the appointments related to his home district Khammam.
He said he had resigned to register his protest against the way many important and senior workers of the party ignored. He would take a decision whether to continue in the party or not depending on the response he would get from the leadership.
Another complaint is that some leaders, who were promoted by former chief minister Kirankumar Reddy and worked against Telangana, were given prominence in the party.
It is learnt that the PCC leadership had ignored the names of local leaders from Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Khammam, Warangal, which Sudhakar Reddy recommended for the appointment in PCC had been set aside at the behest a leader from Khammam. He is also said to have complained that working president Bhatti Vikramarkha ensured that many of his friends got appointed to various positions in the PCC at the cost of other loyal workers of the party.
He said he won’t take his resignation back till the party gives an assurance that it would consider some names from the list he had given to PCC leadership. Meanwhile, PCC president Uttamkumar and Opposition leader Jana Reddy had been trying to pacify Sudhakar Reddy.
