Arrangement for laying foundation stone for the the mega health care city , which the Indo-UK Institute is planning is set up at Amaravati, are afoot. As requested by the chief minister the Indo-UK institute finally chose Amaravati as one centres to set up a health care city. The proposed health care city is expected to transform Amaravati into a major global health care hub, according to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office.
In all probability, the foundation stone will be laid in June. To complete all formalities, a high-level team from Indo-UK Institute is visiting Andrha Pradesh on April 25 and 26. The institute is said to have finalized the design of the health care city and is keen on completing the project by 2018. The design of the health care city and the details of the developer have been submitted to the Andhra Pradesh economic development board (APEDB). The team consisting of Group CEO Ajay Rajan Gupta, chairman Prof Mike Parker etc will finalize the land for the location of the health care city. State government has offered 150 acres of land for the heath care city which is being built at a cost of Rs 1000 crore. The team will hold discussions with chief secretary, officials of CRDA and finally, it will have au audience with chief minister Naidu.
An MoU for the project was signed in February 2016 by Andhra Pradesh government and Indo-UK Institute of Health. An Amount of Rs 1000 crore will be invested on the thousand-bed hospital. The CM assured them that the state would provide hundred acres for the proposed ‘health care city’ as it will be known in future.
The health care city is being set up as part of the MoU IUIH signed with government of India. The IUIH has plans to set up 11 mega hospitals or health care cities in India. The chief minister asked the delegation to make Amaravati as the headquarters of their health care city project. The CM briefed the UK delegation of the government plans to make Amaravati as major health care hub of the country by setting up AIIMS and other maga hospitals in private sector.
From IUIH, chairman Mike Parker revealed his plans to set up 11 health care cities in 11 major cities in India with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore. He assured Naidu that he would help major universities, health care institutes set up their branches in Amaravati
