After the health care city, Andhra Pradesh is planning to set up an international academic city in the state. In all probability it expected to come up either at Visakhpatnam or Amaravati.

The health care city is coming up in about 150 acres and Indo-UK Institute of health has entered an MoU with state. Now, the state government is planning an International Academic City on the line of Dubai International Academic City (DIAC).

To study the Dubai Model the government has sent a high-level official delegation to Dubai. The delegation comprising of AC Punetha, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, Sumita Dawra, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Srikathanatha Reddy, project director, Centrally sponsored RUSA, and Yuvraj, district collector, Visakhapatnam and Prof S Kumar VC JNTU-K visited the DIAC between April 22 and April 24. The team, led by HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao is expected to prepare a concept note on Education City/ Hub/Academic City in Andhra Pradesh.

Dubai International Academic City was launched in April 2007 to cater to the needs of the region’s growing and diverse academic community. Home to numerous regional and international colleges and universities, it serves over 24,000 students from all around the world. With more than 400 undergraduate and post-graduate programs currently offered to students, DIAC continues to expand and grow as per the needs of its robust and talented academic community.

The concept of the International academic city is that any world-class university can set up their school with tailor-made courses. And promoter can offer land and other facilities.
