Issuing a stern warning to the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) government, the Chairman of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Prof.M.Kodandaram announced that JAC would be taken to village level to ensure development. He made this announcement after chairing a 2-hour long deliberations in extended JAC steering committee meeting in Hyderabad on Wednesday (June 8, 2016).
Without attaching much importance to the tirade launched by the Ministers, MPs and TRS leaders or naming any one of them, Mr.Kodandaram said: “Kodandaram is not important but the development of Telangana is important. The discussion should be on the issue of development. JAC had aimed at fighting for Telangana till it achieves the separate State and pledged to continue the fight for the development of the State after achieving the separate State. JAC will be taken to village level. Our journey will continue irrespective of hurdles and attacks. We don’t stop our work.”
Mr.Kodandaram described JAC’s endeavour as a ‘rare experiment’ and made it very clear that JAC would like to make development as the ‘political agenda’ for all stakeholders.
In a rebuttal to his detractors, who argued that there is no JAC in vogue at all, Mr.Kodandaram said: “The reaction of the good number of people against JAC clearly suggests the existence of it.” He also spoke about Singareni Collieries and Osmania University, the two hotspots during the movement for the separate State besides the latest issue of land acquisition to drum up support of workers and students. He came up with the idea of conducting three conferences/round tables on these issues soon, giving a clear indication that JAC is all set to push to the Government to a corner.
Mr.Kodandaram demanded transparency in implementing irrigation projects. “The Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) should be made available to public.. We will come up with reports on various issue,” he said. To a question on as to what led to a gap between KCR and him, Mr.Kodandaram avoided a directly reply. In response to a reporter’s enquiry on the alleged rejection of appointment to him by the Chief Minister Mr.K.Chandrasekhar Rao, Mr.Kodandaram said: “We sought for an appointment on one or two occasions but we didn’t get. It is not an issue but we are committed to the development of Telangana.”
