Telangana Today by KS Reddy launched in August
Funds from KCR, brains from The Hindu, designing style sheet from Mumbai and printing machine from Germany!
Thus, the upcoming English daily, Telangana Today, spearheaded by one of the senior most journalists K.Srinivas Reddy, is getting ready to hit the stands. Contrary to the initial plans of KSR (Tiger from now), the newspaper is to be launched in August due to the delay in installing the printing press.
The high-end machine, shipped from Germany, will take at least 45 days to install, sources said. “So far Sakshi’s printing machine is said to be of superior quality but we are given to understand that TT’s machine will be most superior (double-superlative),” a journalist close to The Tiger said adding that he has been averse to getting printed TT in Sakshi. Some newspapers, like The Hans India, get their paper printed in Sakshi, which is keen on optimum utilisation of its state-of-the-art printing press.
According to industry sources, TT has spent a little over Rs.50 crores for the printing machine alone. Similarly, The Tiger engaged a designer known to him in Mumbai to make a dynamic layout and design for his paper. Based on the layout instructions, the local designers are helping journalists making pages. Unlike in other newspapers, journalists are asked to take care of text by leaving the designing aspect to the trained designers. In a way, indeed this is the best practice to follow!
“We are bringing out dummies and a careful analysis is going on to improve the quality of stories. So far we are relishing our work to the core,” a journalist said.
