Hyderabad: Badminton star and silver medalist in Rio Olympics PV Sindhu along with his coach Pellela Gopichand received a rousing welcome from the Telangana government when they arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Monday. Festive air gripped the international airport when Telangana Ministers K Taraka Rama Rao, Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Mahender Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Padma Rao along with other officials made elaborate arrangements to receive them. From the Andhra Pradesh government, Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani were present at the airport to receive the Olympic champion.
Meanwhile, the fans along with the air passengers flocked the Olympic badminton team to congratulate and take selfies with Sindhu and Gopichand. Sindhu will be taken in a special vehicle arranged by the State government in which she would reach Gachibowli stadium in a rally. Large hoardings are erected congratulating Sindhu are seen throughout the stretch leading to Gachibowli. Students, officer goers and citizens of Hyderabad took time to greet Sindhu during the rally. Some people are also accompanying the rally.
A special felicitation programme has been planned at GMC Balayogi stadium in Gachibowli.
