Khammam: YSR Congress party chief and leader of the opposition in AP Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday visited the accident victims, who were injured in tragic road mishap, at Khammam government hospital.
About nine people were killed and 20 others were severely injured when the bus they were travelling in plunged into Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) left canal near at Nayakangudem village in Kusumanchi mandal in the district in the early hours of Monday.
Speaking to media persons, Jagan lambasted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not visiting the victims and for not taking stock of the situation. Many victims suffered head injuries, jaws dislocated, multiple fractures have occurred, and it might take another six months for the injuries to get healed, said Jagan. He demanded that the State government should take responsibility in coming to the rescue of the injured victims.
“Though the private bus was involved in the accident, the State government should announce an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs to the family of each victim in the mishap on humanitarian grounds,” demanded the opposition leader. Stating that he is not playing politics over the issue, Jagan said urged the AP CM to extend monetary help to the victims.
