Telugu360 was the first to report that the overseas rights of NTR’s much awaited film, Janatha Garage have been snapped by Ficus Entertainment, one of the leading distributors in overseas, for a whopping 7.2 Crores. The buzz surrounding Janatha Garage among the trade circles is humongous. Also, NTR’s last outing Nannaku Prematho clocked $ 2.3 M in its full run in overseas.
Reportedly, the distribution house is quoting rights for local centers in 12 – 14 Crores range, a markup of 50-70%. As Tollywood suffered some high profile debacles recently in the form of Brahmotsavam and Sardar Gabbar Singh, local exhibitors felt that they cannot bear risk at this point of time as the film should collect more than 3 Million for break even at the quoted price. Hence there is lukewarm response from exhibitors at these exorbitant rates. So,Ficus has decided to release the film on their own expect for few centers. It is learnt that they are super confident about the film’s success and decided to take risk by releasing on its own in all areas. We have to wait and see if their gamble pay offs.
Janatha Garage is creating a sensational buzz in overseas and already the advance bookings in some areas are sold out. The overseas drives will be shipped tomorrow morning and the premiers are on track for August 31st.
