It’s official now. The successful producer of Bichagadu – Sri Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara Films has announced their next project Ann Maria Kalippilaanu which will be dubbed into Telugu. Considering the giant-killer status of Bichagadu which raked in over Rs.31 crores and counting, the producer Lakshman Chedalavada has taken some time to pick a project worthy enough that will enhance the prestige of the banner. Tentatively planning for a release between Dasera and Deepavali, the makers are hoping the film will ring in the same success that greeted Bichagadu.
The film already a huge hit with the Malayalam audiences who love good cinema has created waves for the treatment which balances emotions touching a chord with kids and adults alike. The story is of a school kid Ann who strikes a friendship with a fraudster called Wayne; how the girl Ann influences and changes the fraudster is the crux of the story. An added attraction in the film is a special appearance by Dulquer Salmaan. Music by Shaan Rahman and BGM by Sooraj S.Kurup have been well-received.
Picking good content and backing it all the way is a forte Lakshman wants to hone and it becomes harder each time they land a successful project. When picking a project, Lakshman wants to ensure that sensibilities and nativities of the Telugu audience resonate well. And he hopes that this film will do well in all multiplexes and A centers better than what Bichagadu did (which actually struggled for theatres). Apart from delivering a blockbuster hit, Bichagadu has been sold for a whopping satellite rights of Rs.1.85 crores to Gemini TV. Even as the rights of Ann Maria Kalippilaanu are not yet disclosed, sources said it could be an amount under a crore.
