Vijayawada: While the opposition YSR Congress is firing all its gun against AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for facing charges in cash-for-vote case, former Union Minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari too seems to have joined the bandwagon. “Instead of proving his innocence in the infamous ‘cash-for-vote’ case, Chandrababu Naidu obtained a stay from the High Court in the ongoing investigation taken up by the Telangana ACB,” she said.
She made this statement during a BJP party meeting organised on Saturday in Vijayawada. Though there was criticism against the AP CM from the opposition leaders, her remarks assumed significance since she had been a relative of Chandrababu for quite a long time. Now it seems that she is opposing Naidu by making this statement.
Following the demand for Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, Purandeshwari said though the Centre is convinced to extend financial support more than that of the special status, it not viable to technically add the term “special status”.
Stating that the BJP is committed to extend all support to residual Andhra Pradesh, the former Union Minister said that she would strive for strengthening the party in the State from grass-root level.
Eventhough, the BJP leaders striving to strengthen the party in the State, this BJP’ dream to become an alternative political force would remain a pipedream following the ‘special status’ curse.
