Kakinada: Chaos prevailed for sometime when Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa along with few officials stuck in a lift following a technical glitch.
The incident happened after the Minister came to inaugurate the newly-constructed building of Pollution Control Board at Kakinada on Saturday.
When the Minister took the lift to inaugurate Solar Power Centre built atop the building, it stopped functioning due to overweight when the officials and staff too entered the lift to accompany Chinnarajappa. Within seconds, the lift stuck in the middle of the floor causing severe panic among the officials and the Minister.
The police present at the inaugural event ran helter-skelter out of fear that any untoward incident might take place. Immediately, a mechanic has been roped in to bring the Minister and officials to safety. Later, loosing his cool, the Minister expressed anger over the cops for failing to manage the crowd.
