Guntur: Former Tirupati MLA and YSR Congress leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Tuesday appeared before Regional CID office in Guntur following notices issued to him in connection with Tuni incident.
Following the notices issued by the CID under CrPc Section 160 to the YSRCP leader and 20 others in the case, Bhumana appeared at 11.30 am before the officials along with scores of his supporters. However, only Bhumana was allowed inside the office during the interrogation.
Heavy security has been beefed up in the vicinity to avert any untoward incident. The investigation may continue for another one hour as the CID sleuths grilling Bhumana on the various issues based on call data. The CID officials learnt that Bhumana had met Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabam at a farm house before Tuni incident on January 31, 2016.
Speaking to media persons, Bhuamana alleged a “political vendetta” by the ruling TDP government. “The State government is deliberately summoning us into the case even after passing eight months,” he said.
It may be recalled that heavy public property was damaged when agitators, alleged to have been attended Kapu Gharjana organised by Mudragada, set a train afire eventually leading to large-scale violence in Tuni town of East Godavari district. Several railway employees were also injured during the violence on January 31.
