Hyderabad: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K. Taraka Rama Rao on Thursday visited the colonies, which were inundated by heavy rains, in Nizampet area, Hyderabad.
Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Ramamohan, MLA Vivekanand Goud and several other officials accompanied KTR. The residents narrated the problems being faced by them to the Minister.
Following incessant rains for the past one week, residents of Bhandari layout have been stranded as the rain water submerged several apartments till first floor.
Speaking to media persons, KTR said that several low-lying areas in Nizampet, Miyapur and Pragathi Nagar were inundated because of heavy rainfall registered at 16 cms in last 24 hours. When such calamities happen, the locals should also co-operate to the rescue operations being carried from the State government, he urged.
KTR also urged the residents to vacate the buildings for the next 48 to 72 hours to other safety places.
Meanwhile, the residents who were trapped in their houses are expressing anger over the Telangana government and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for not delayed rescue operations.
The residents lamented that the GHMC officials are giving permissions to contractors and builders who provide cellar parking when there was sever threat from rain water entering into the cellar (basement) parking damaging their vehicles.
