Yupp TV acquires Reliable IPTV
Yupp TV is a pioneer and one the World’s largest over-the-top (OTT) entertainment solutions. It enables consumers to experience the convenience of virtual home entertainment from comfort of home television. YuppTV under the dynamic leadership of Uday Nandan Reddy has been on a hockey stick growth path and is a household name for all telugu people overseas.
Till this point, there are only two main players in OTT (IPTV) space in US. Yupp TV has been a leading player and Reliable IPTV is a distant second. As per Telugu360 sources, Yupp TV has bought out Reliable’s IPTV customers for an undisclosed amount making it the only IPTV provider for Telugu channels in North America, not counting Sling TV and others. Reliable will continue to offer voice services. For customers who need TV and Voice package, IPTV services will be provided by Yupp TV and Reliable will continue to provide IP phone services.
For starters, Reliable has been around from 2008 and had a comparable customer base to Yupp TV. However, with its technological advances and astute marketing, Yupp trumped reliable and emerged as the market leader. Yupp is omnipresent in all the platforms, but Reliable made no headway in building apps for all the devices. It is indeed a good move by Yupp to buy out Reliable, which gives it a monopoly over the market.
Yupp TV, which was started in 2006, has a come a long way. Uday, with this forward thinking build a company to scale up. Yup is now becoming dominant player in Latin America and some Caribbean markets. Uday has brought in reputed investors such as Sashi Reddy, who is now a Yupp board member and invested $2.5 M in Yupp TV. We will not be surprised to see Yupp TV becoming a sweet acquisition target for media majors such as Comcast, Time Warner, considering the lucrative Indian diaspora they serve to.
