Hyderabad: After bowing to the pressure from the opposition parties and considering the suggestions made by the local TRS leaders, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has zeroed in for creation of 31 districts. Now the number might go up, as fresh demands for few more districts are cropping up.
Since there is barely a week’s time left for the new districts to be functionied, State government is now facing fresh demands to make Badrachalam, Devarakonda, Mirayalguda, Narayanpet, Ibrahimpatnam and Narayankhed.
TRS MLA from Narayanpet constituency has sent his resignation to the Assembly Speaker to accept it if his constituency is not a made a district.
However, a final decision will be taken on the new districts after a report submitted by high-power committee headed TRS Parliamentary leader K Keshava Rao.
There was a speculation that KCR has released a press note stating that the State government will issue a final notification on new districts which will not cross 31 districts.
On Wednesday, the high-power committee met several political leaders and activists to receive representations. Minister K Taraka Rama Rao suggested that Sircilla and Vemulavada constituencies should be merged. Congress MLA from Alampur constituency S.A. Sampath demanded that Gadwal should be renamed as Jogulamba district.
