Chennai: A bank clerk and a certified jewellery appraiser were arrested on Friday for allegedly mocking Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in Coimbatore. According to a news report published on the front page of ‘The Hindu’, the incident was happened on October 7. But came to light on Friday, when an AIDMK functionary Punitha Devi lodged a complaint with the police over the incident.
Accused identified as bank clerk L. Ramesh (48) and Jewellery appraiser R. Suresh (51) had allegedly made adverse comments against the Chief Minister during a conversation in the bank hours. Although, Punitha Devi objected to their conversation, the accused threatened her in an intimidating manner. The accused were later produced before the magistrate.
Former Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah visited Jayalalitha in Apollo hospitals and inquired with the doctors about her health. Later, speaking to media persons, Rosaiah reportedly said that no visitor is allowed inside to see Amma. After meeting the hospital doctors, he expressed optimism that Jayalalithaa will recuperate soon within no time. Leader of the opposition in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala, Rajathi Karunanidhi (mother of Kanimozhi) and several AIDMK party leaders visited Amma in the hospital.
