BJP depicted the former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as a `moun’ (silent) leader, as he hardly speaks on contemporary issues. As the opposition party BJP tried hard several times to makes him to speak on various contentious issues.
However, present Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known for his eloquent discourses on any issue. He don’t spare words in making accusations against opposition parties.
After his drastic demonetisation move, he has been making tall claims starting from Japan to Goa, Agra and other places. Even in Parliament house at a book release function he dismissed opposition’s role in hard-hitting words.
But the opposition fails to drag him into parliament debate. For the last two weeks, they have been stalling Rajya Sabha proceedings only on one issue that Prime Minister should be present during debate. Though he was present for a while on Thursday, he was not seen later.
During Modi’s brief presence, Manmohan Singh spoke eloquently denouncing demonetisation move as an exercise of a “monumental disaster” and a case of “organised loot and legalised plunder.”
CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, who is also Rajya Sabha member felt that now both Manmohan and Modi changed their roles. “The BJP once used to term former Prime Minister moun (silent) Mohan Singh for not speaking in Parliament. But we witnessed role reversal recently; while Manmohan Singh spoke eloquently, he (Modi) had become Narendra moun (silent) Modi,” he added.
