Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) high-profile MP Bhagwant Mann, who was kept under suspension by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan till the house panel submits its report against him, seems to be not cause worry to him.
It may be recalled that being the only popular face of the party in the state, he is the Chief Ministerial aspirant. In fact, he thinks it is going in his favour as he is using this time to prepare for the elections. He apparently also said that it was better to become Punjab’s Chief Minister than to sit on the back benches in Parliament.
The Sangrur MP Mann is flying high these days. Though there is no official announcement on this, he is considering himself as the Chief Ministerial candidate. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan yesterday gave one more weeks’ time to the Lok Sabha panel probing the issue of Mann shooting a video of The Parliament complex and asked him r not to attend the House till a decision is taken in the matter.
The nine-member panel, chaired by BJP member Kirit Somaiya was set up on July 25, a week after Mann had put out in the social media a video of his vehicle passing security barricades and entering the Parliament complex. He had also video graphed a room where Parliament questions were being sorted. After facing flak for his act, Mann had defended his move, saying he was only showing people how Parliament functioned.
Kejriwal had announced that Mann will be fighting against Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal, from Jalalabad seat. After this, Mann and his supporters have been on cloud nine and are claiming that the party high command has given a green light to his candidature. Before this, Kejriwal had sent Mann to take part in Mamata Benerjee’s march to the President house, making him AAP’s face of crusade against demonetisation.
