When people all over Tamil Nadu are in anxiety over the serious health condition of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, after a TV channel’s news report stating she died, has led to evoking severe tension. However, immediately denying the news avoided a major uproar.
Trouble erupted outside the Apollo Hospitals here this evening after Sun TV reported that Jayalalithaa was dead at 5.30 pm. The hospital denied the Sun TV report. As the Sun TV report spread outside the hospital where thousands were gathered, some AIADMK supporters tried to break into the complex and were pushed back by police.
Many others simply broke down, unable to check their emotions. There were loud cries of “Amma, Amma!” After a sudden surge of violence and police lath charge, angry cadre now remain quiet. Tearful supporters say Amma not dead, still alive.
The Apollo Hospitals hurriedly denied the Sun TV report. “A large number of doctors from Apollo and AIIMS continue to provide all life saving measures,” a tweet from Sangita Reddy, Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, said.
Meanwhile, minutes after Tamil news channels flashed about Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, social media users of Twitter and Facebook began reacting to the unconfirmed reports. Tweeple on overdrive after false rumours of Jayalalithaa’s death.
