The YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who seems to be uneasy to be in opposition and frequently stating change of the government in Andhra Pradesh, has now predicted that the country is likely to witness advances polls l in 2017. So, he directed the party cadre to get ready to face the polls.
According to him, if BJP succeed in winning Uttara Pradesh assembly polls, early next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will certainly goes for simultaneous polls to Lok Sabha and all assemblies under his new slogan `One Nation-One Election”. It may be recalled that already the NITI Aayog has prepared a draft proposal to conduct such polls and prime minister also stressed the need for drastic electoral reforms.
In clear terms, Modi said frequent elections by conducting elections to few assemblies every year makes the political parties to divert their attention from development and governance. Moreover, leading to divide the people in the name of caste, region, religion etc.
The leader of opposition conducted a two-day review meeting in Hyderabad with his party MLAs, coordinators, district party presidents and in-charges on party’s ambitious programme `Gadapa Gadapaku YSR’ (YSR to each threshold). The review concluded last evening. He also claimed that he had specific indications from Delhi with regard to advanced polls.
He asked party leaders to intensify their grass-root activities expecting advanced polls. Recalling that already Narendra Modi attempting to project himself as an `hero’ before the public by shaking the foundations of `black money’, he reportedly said in the name of saving government and political parties’ expenditure for frequent elections may moves for simultaneous polls.
Forecasting that Modi seems to be adamant in this regard and may reveal his plans after achieving success in UP polls, he cautioned party leaders not to be negligent thinking polls would be in 2019. So, he advised party leaders to spare 16 days in every month for `Gadapa Gadapaku YSR’ so that to identify themselves with the people and their problems.
