After former minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet and second-time TDP MP Dr N Siva Prasad heckled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetization drive presenting it wearing a fancy dress inside the Parliament house, now a senior party MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao came out on it.
The sixth-time MP, businessman-turned politician Rayapati clearly indicating it turned to be counterproductive for the government said “Modi created a muddle, now muddied himself”.
Referring to the high-level committee appointed under the chairmanship of TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu, he commented that “now Modi trying to transfer that mud to Naidu”. He said that the committee was only to extricate out of an ill-advised decision.
His harsh comments just after meeting Chandrababu Naidu, indicating that the demonetisation euphoria dying down slowly among TDP leadership and in fact they are now on a re-think. According to sources, many senior leaders of TDP advised Naidu not to head the committee, as that would be a `unpopular task’. As a results, for couple of days he was non-committal about the committee.
However, Naidu conveyed his acceptance to head the committee only reportedly after a telephone call received from union minister M Venkaiah Naidu. In view of his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao coming close to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue, Venkaiah said to be cautioned him that if he expressed his discontent that would have `adverse impact’ on him.
Already several TDP leaders have questioned the move without make sure of sufficient cash flow, even after one month of the decision. Many party MLAs lamented it as “ill-planned” act. Expressing severe concern as there seems to be no end in sight for the common man’s woes even after one month of demonetisaiton, Rayapati said only common people are at receiving end, while `big people’ are in safe.
At the same time, the former Congress leader also slammed the Congress Party for stalling Parliament. They are the biggest hoarders of black money and are finding it very difficult to exchange it with valid notes, Rayapati added.
