The Karnataka police seems to be making swift moves to arrest mining baron and former BJP minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in the suicide case of a driver that exposes his conversion of Rs 100 crore worth abolished notes with new notes.
The arrest of Reddy’s aide Bheema Naik today is giving scope for speculations that the police are preparing a sound ground for Reddy’s arrest. However, it’s all depend up on Naik’s deposition, who has been absconding police since the incident.
Bheema Nayak, a Karnataka administrative service officer and his present driver Mohammed were arrested in Gulbarga from a relative’s house this morning. Nayak, special land acquisition officer (Bengaluru) has been accused of abatement of suicide. His driver has also been named in the case.
Nayak’s former driver, KC Ramesh Gowda had committed suicide on Tuesday after alleging that Nayak helped Reddy launder money. Gowda also claimed that he received death threats. In his suicide note, he had alleged that his life was in danger for knowing about the money laundering.
The note contains that Nayak had got converted Rs 1000 and 500 notes belonging to Janardhana Reddy, worth Rs 100 crores for 20 per cent commission to Rs 50, 100 and 2000 notes. “As I was aware of all these things, they had threatened me of dire consequences and told me they will get me killed from rowdies”, Gowda added.
Janardhan Reddy was recently in news with daughter Bramhani’s luxurious wedding, which was attended by over 50,000 guests and reportedly at a cost of over Rs 500 crore.
