After establishing that abnormal cash recovered from a Chennai-based sand mine contractor Sekhar Reddy was rooted from Telugu states, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is said to be probing into political links also.
Till now, Income Tax (IT) officials have seized from him Rs 131 crore currency notes, of which Rs 34 crore are in new Rs 2,000 notes and about 140 kgs gold bars.
CBI probe has reportedly revealed that Rs 34 crore new currency notes were rooted from two Telugu states and shifted from here to Chennai. Moreover they were not withdrawn from any bank branch, but directly obtained from SBI’s administrative offices, from the containers they received from RBI.
CBI has already nabbed 10 senior SBI officials and likely to be arrested them in a day or two after questioning them.It is bedeviled that it may not be possible for such high level transactions with out political links.
The former TTD board member Sekhar Reddy was said to be having good influence with AIADMK government in Chennai. However, the opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh blaming him as a `benami’ of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Questioning the government on what criteria and with whose recommendation Reddy was nominated to the TTD board by Naidu, the opposition suspects chief minister using him to exchange his black money.
Suspecting that there are may be some other real black money holders behind Sekhar Reddy, the CBI is reportedly probing further to unearth his political and business connections in two Telugu states.
