Several BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh choosing to remain calm when Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has been continuing his Tweeter tirade against the party continuously. Particularly, a section of the leadership, who have been making strong case to sail with Pawan Kalyan by breaking away ties with Telugu Desam Party. Even they have been advocating to project Pawan Kalyan as party’s Chief Minister Candidate for 2019 polls.
These leaders have been insisting to elevate party MLC Somu Veerraju as party’s state unit president, mostly due to his access with Pawan Kalyan. This section is arguing for the last two years as powerful Kamma and Reddy communities in the state are being polarised between Telugu Desam and YSRCP parties, BJP can make a difference in the state only by projecting Kapu leadership.
Incidentally, it is interesting to note that Pawan started his criticism against BJP leadership directly only after the party high command makes it clear to the state leadership that they need to sail with Chandrababu Naidu at any cost. That at the main reason for the party hesitating to announce Somu Veerraru as party’s chief.
After party’s deciding to continue its relationship with TDP, otherwise `fire brand’ leaders like Somu Veerraju, former Congress leaders Kanna Lakshminarayana, D Purandeswari and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao almost remaining silent.
Fearing that this section of leadership may took it offence, other leaders also maintaining silence over Pawan’s Twitters. Even union minister M Venkaiah Naidu, who holds press meets every week in the state, also maintaining silence on this issue. Though BJP is having two ministers in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet, none of them hardly comes to party’s rescue when it was in offensive.
This scenario makes AP state incharge and national spokesperson to interfere and strongly refuted Pawan’s Tweets. State BJP leaders silence over Pawan’s Twitters even making opposition leaders to surprise. It shows the severe crisis of leadership the party is facing in the state, commented a Left party leader.
