A day after Pamarru MLA Uppuleti Kalpana `defected’ into ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) by resigning from YSRCP, in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, today she received a rude shock as most of her followers, who claimed to be left the party with her, announced they will continue in YSRCP.
They include two ZPTCs Vijayasanthi (Movva), Padmavathi (Pamarru), and party convenors for Pamarru, Movva, Thotavalluru and Pamidimukkala. They said they were not following their MLA, who had deserted the party.
Strongly condemning Chandrababu Naidu’s `politics of defections’, former minister and YSRCP leader K Parthasarathy accused that the Chief Minister has been heckling constitutional norms. He wondered that many MLAs who have been criticising Chandrababu Naidu with strong words are now praising him after wearing yellow kanduvas.
Ridiculing Chandrababu Naidu’s claims that his party is in a position to win all 175 seats in the state, the former minister challenged him to face polls as of now? If he is confident of his own surveys, he asked him first to get resignations of all MLAs, who have defected into his party allowing by-polls in their constituencies.
He said that this would provide an opportunity for Naidu to show his and his party’s popularity in the state. He advised him to focus on developmental activities, leaving unethical practices.
Cautioning YSRCP MLAs, who are defecting into TDP, Parthasarathy said that those who had already joined TDP are feeling `isolated’ and unable to get even appointment of Chandrababu Naidu.
