Revolutionary balladeer Gaddar whose real name is G Vittal, will announce his decision to enter the fray of Warangal Lok Sabha constituency by-election in two days.
He conveyed this to the Left front leaders who met him with their request to contest the polls as the representative of the Left against the anti-people policies of Telangana government, which they felt subverting the very objective demanding separate stage. Gaddar comes from a political background which shunned the parliamentary politics in favor of armed struggle to establish people’s state. But, now, as he has disengaged himself from Maoist party, many feel Gaddar would have no objection to contest the election as choice of the Left.
Gaddar, a name most popular in Telangana, is the unanimous choice of all Left parties.
In a welcome decision, all the nine left parties of Telangana, which met on Tuesday at Maqdoom Bhavan, the CPI headquarters, unanimously decided that Gaddar would be right candidate to be fielded against TRS nominee in Warangal byelection.
After the meeting, a delegation met the pro-Maoist cultural icon of Telangana at his Alwal residence. TelanganaCPI secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and CPI-M’s Telangana state secretary T Veerabhadram briefed him about the Left decision and the need for him to contest the polls on Left plank.
They told media later that the balladeer agreed to participate in the fight for people’s causes.
On the contesting in the poll, they said, Gaddar sought two-day time to take a decision.
The by-election to the Warangal Lok Sabha is taking place following he resignation of Kadiam Srihari who was inducted into state cabinet. Election commission is going to notify the election soon.
