Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today demanded that a sum of 25 thousand rupees should be deposited in the account of every woman of a BPL family that has suffered post demonetisation. He also demanded doubling of MNREGA wages and Income Tax, Sales Tax rebate for small businessmen and shopkeepers.
Questioning the government that how much black money has been unearthed since the demonetisation implemented on 8th of last month, he demanded all restrictions on withdrawal of money should be lifted immediately. The party demanded a White Paper on demonetisation.
Speaking on the occasion of 132nd foundation day of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi also sought to know how many people have deposited more than 25 lakh rupees in their accounts within six months before demonetisation.
Accusing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sacrificed the common man in ‘yagna’ against black money, he said that Modi said he is performing a yagna against black money and corruption. As animals are slaughtered in yagnas, similarly Prime Minister Modi has sacrificed the common man in yagna against black money, he added. He further said that demonetisation ‘yagna’ is aimed at benefiting the rich.
Deploring that farmers have been hit the most, Gandhi said that Prime Minister should waive off their loans and give bonus at 20% MSP. He said the price of of ration distributed under the PDS system should be halved for the period of a year under the provisions of the Food Security Act and a special one-time bonus of 20 per cent should be provided over and above the MSP of all Rabi crops.
He also demanded that government should organise a special drive to identify and register those who lost their jobs since November 8 and provide them compensation at the applicable minimum wage rate for a period up to March 31.
