The opposition today also continued their protests at Telangana assembly winter sessions by boycotting the session for the second day, protesting against “unfair attitude” by the TRS and the Speaker towards them in the House. Deploring that they were not provided provided sufficient time in the proceedings, they also accusing the Speaker for denying them opportunity even for to stage a protest.
As per schedule, the sessions concluds today, but today the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) Meeting has decided to revive sessions from January 3, which would continue till January 11, with business transactions for seven working days.
Under the chairmanship of Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Finance Minister Etela Rajender, Legislature Affairs Minister T Harish Rao, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, among others attended the meeting.
Earlier, terming the boycott of the House by the Opposition as an unfortunate event, the Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao said the government was strictly following the decisions that were taken in the BAC meeting where all the opposition leaders were present. He asserted that the government was ready to discuss any issue.
He said even the decision not to stage protests in front of the Speaker’s podium was taken to ensure that the Telangana State Assembly set an example. He further said the decision to extend the session further till January first week was taken in view of the demand by the Opposition parties for more time to discuss issues.
