Nama Nageswara Rao
TDP’s Parliamentary Party leader in the previous Lok Sabha and was known as the wealthiest Parliamentarian Nama Nageswara Rao is known heard or seen among party circles these days. When TDP was in opposition he had played crucial role as a close associate of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. But after his failure to re-elect from Khammam constituency in 2014, political compulsions forcing him to play low prfile.
A prominent businessmen in infrastructure sector, he used to be `voice of Chandrababu Naidu’ in New Delhi, on the lines the role presently played by Union Minister of State Sujana Choudary. Since a year, he seems to be almost deserted from TDP. His followers indicating that he would contest in 2019 elections, but not as a TDP candidate. Now speculations are arising in Khammam on his next political destination.
In 2009 he gained prominence by defeating most outspoken Renuka Chowdary (Congress). But he was defeated by Ponguleti Srsinivasa Reddy (YSRCP), who is now shifted to TRS.
The main grudge of present Telangana’s R&B Minister Thummala Nagaswara Rao to desert TDP was party supremo Chandrababu Naidu started promoting Nageswara Rao, who turned against him in the district politics. But now realising that TDP’s foundations were collapsed in the district and there would be no scope for the party to revive here, Nageswara Rao seems to be in search of better options.
For him, as a prime businessmen, returning to Parliament would be top priority. Only options available before him are TRS and Congress. In TRS already his political-rival Thummala Nageswara Rao is closely identified with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Moreover, sitting MP is with the ruling party. In Congress, influential Renuka Choudary would be a major hurdle for him. However, his supporters are confident that he has resources to influence powers that matters in whichever party he may chose.
