The Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy turns philosophical on the performance of Congress MLAs in the ongoing winter session of the Telangana assembly. Strongly refuting ruling party’s accusations that the opposition party is not cooperative for smooth conduct of the house, he said that they have been performing the role of Pandavas in Mahabharata. In it, he said he is Dharma Raju.
Asserting that always Congress members withstood by Dharma, he said that because of them only the assembly session is going on smoothly. He also justified his `soft’ attitude towards the government. He said that it is not the duty of Dharma Raju only to fight.
He asked whether only Dharma Raju fought in Mahabharata by carrying mace and arrows. When Dharma Raju was speaking, Bhima fought with mace and Arjuna fought with arrows. Everyone have to play their own roles. Likewise, he said Congress MLAs are performing each one of their own duties. As a leader, he said his task is to make corrections if needed here and there.
Responding to discontent among Congressmen that he was not aggressive in the Assembly, he said as a senior member of the house, he has the responsibility to behave politely so that to enhance prestige of the house.
Explaining his duties as a Leader of Opposition. “I am captain to our team. I cannot be on batting all over beginning from the opening. I has to identify skills of my team members and accordingly need to assign responsibilities. If I only plays all through how can others get opportunity? I will train them to play, give them guidance and encourages them. If someone makes some mistake, I will correct them. I need to protect common benefits of the team. If I only plays, cross the border… I too will be out”
