- The selection of Architect for Amaravati is turning farcical by the data. After the success of Gautami Putra Satakarni, Naidu has asked the team to engage Krish for inputs on architecture on Amaravati.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has been stating his ambitious desire of building `world class capital’ city at Amaravati region by 2019 polls, is failing to finalise its design even after more than half of his term completion.
Though the Centre is ready to provide all necessary funds for the construction of `core capital’ buildings and already released Rs 2,000 crore, due to failure of the state government in providing appropriate design, it is failing to move forward.
As it took more than two years for him to get ready interim secretariat at Velagapudi, government officials are suspecting possibility of completing core capital during next two years.
Initially the designing work was assigned to a Japanese company Maki and Associates, by paying few crores of rupees, which had submitted its design March, last year. But the design was led to disappointment to all as it doesn’t reflect Andhra’s culture, heritage, history or architecture. Moreover looking like a modern shopping mall.
Subsequently, Maki was dumped and last month Foster and Partners of Britain was appointed as Master Architect. Top Indian architect Hafiz Contractor is partnering with Foster in designing two “iconic structures” — the High Court and the Legislature Complex — apart from the master plan for the 900-acre core capital area.
Following disappointment from several sections over foreign architects designs, Chief Minister, who was fascinated by the sets of Baahubali film, he himself urged its director Ramajouli to help in designing Amaravati. As the director was busy with the completion of the second part of his film, now he seems to be turning towards “Gautamiputra Satakarni” director Krish and its art director Sai.
Sai is now serving the Telangana government on its ambitious Yadadri temple town project. Ostensibly impressed by the grandeur of the film that supposedly depicts the history of Amaravati, the CM has asked the CRDA to contact Krish and Sai.
