Popular Tollywood hero and TDP’s MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna today invoked the popular demand of Nandamuri fans and TDP cadre, to confer highest civilian award of the Indian government `Bharat Ratna’ on NTR. Demanding the Centre to fulfil people’s aspirations in this regard, he assured that Telugu Desam Party would bring pressure on the central government to confer `Bharat Ratna’ on NTR.
He make this demand while garlanding his father and TDP’s foudner N T Rama Rao’s statue at Rasoolpura junction in Hyderabad, paying tributes on the occasion of NTR’s 21th death anniversary. He also launched Amar Jyothi rally which was concluded at NTR Ghat.
Speaking on the occasion, he said NTR was the greatest leader, who fought for self-respect of Telugu people, worked relentlessly for the welfare of poor and backwards sections of society by launched many revolutionary schemes. He also said that TDP founded by NTR was not merely a political party but a system. He claimed that no other party has such a huge cadre base.
Rich tributes were paid to former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao by his family members and TDP leaders at NTR Ghat. NTR’s sons N. Harikrishna, N. Balakrishna, grandsons Junior NTR, Kalyanram, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s wife and NTR’s daughter Bhuvaneswari, along with her daughter-in-law Brahmani, other family members and NTR’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi, besides many TDP leaders paid floral tributes at NTR Ghat on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu’s son and TDP leader N. Lokesh paid tributes to NTR in Vijayawada and inaugurated NTR Museum on the occasion.
