Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s confirmation that his son and TDP’s national general secretary Nara Lokesh is all set to be inducted into his cabinet very soon, has received mixed responses from the political circles.
Surprisingly static silence was prevailed within the TDP. Those young leaders, who had earlier came forward to vacate their constituencies’ resigning as MLA, to facilitated Lokesh enter into the state assembly, too remained calm. As it was evident since a long that the Chief Minister is keen on promoting his son as his `successor’ in politics and project him as `future Chief Minister’ none on the party leaders are in a position to express any reservations.
A senior party leader said that “everyone knows that Chief Minister is waiting for a suitable time to induct his son into his cabinet, nothing sensational now”. Moreover, Chandrababu Naidu is said to be facing pressures from his family members for causing delay in son’s induction.
Surprisingly, only CPI reacted towards this decision, though the party is not it’s allay of the TDP, nor it has any representation in the State Assembly. CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna has put certain conditions for Lokesh’s induction.
Expressing concern that till now there is no representation to Minorities and STs in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet, Ramakrishna said that before induction of his son, Chief Minister should give representation to such unrepresented communities in his cabinet. He asserted that Chandrababu Naidu should not give ministerial berth to his son while ignoring ST and minorities. He said protests would be organised across Andhra Pradesh, if only Lokesh is made a minister.
In this regard, Ramakrishna said that Chandrababu Naidu was trying to emulate Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has given crucial ministries to his son in the cabinet and also following `Gujarat Model’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not having any minister from minority communities in the State cabinet.
