Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is said to be upset with the cancellation of his appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled to be at 11 am on Monday. He proposed to meet him along with an all-party delegation to request Prime Minister to take steps for categorisation of Scheduled Castes in the state. As a result, Rao has cancelled his three-day trip to New Delhi.
Immediately after his office receiving this message late last evening from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Chief Minister has contacted officials there. They informed him that the appointment was cancelled in view of discussion in Lok Sabha to the resolution thanking President’s address. Moreover, they said that Modi is busy with UP poll campaign also. They told him that the next date of appointment will be conveyed later.
However, both government and TRS circles who are wondering with this sudden development are suspecting some `foul play’ by the BJP in this regard. A senior TRS leader said that they are suspecting that local BJP leaders are worried that Chief Minister’s initiative will give political mileage to him, though BJP is also taking up this issue aggressively since a long time.
He felt that reasons now stating for cancellation of the appointment are not valid as keeping in view of such scenario only the appointment was earlier fixed. “It may be only after state BJP leaders brining pressure on PMO through their national leadership”, he added.
Incidentally, BJP’s national organising general secretary V Satish was touring in Telangana state for three days and this appointment was cancelled after his departure from the state. Chief Minister was also planned to meet few other central ministers, besides President Pranab Mukherji to invite him as Chief Guest for the centenary celebrations of Osmania University in the month of April this year.
