TDP leadership in Telangana seems to be realised that it need to do more homework to expose Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao’s regime, who is known as `magicians of words’ and can mesmerism people with his vocabulary. Instead of day in and day out criticizing the government with press meetings, it has decided to study in details government’s policies and functioning.
For this purpose, it has decided to form `shadow cabinet committees’ so that to pick holes in the TRS government’s performance. This was the practice followed by party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, when he was leader of the Opposition in the united Andhra Pradesh, during Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime in 2009. He has formed as many as over 100 such committees, assigning one party leader to each committee with a specific subject of governance.
Emulating the step taken by Chadnrababu Naidu, the Telangana TDP leadership has allotted subjects to ten leaders who will, in turn, head a group of party members to examine the policies of the government on important subjects like finance, irrigation, power, agriculture, industry, medical and health, revenue, education and housing.
The party has decided to call each group a ‘subject committee’. Party senior leaders in the state like R Chandrasekhar Reddy, E Peddi Reddy, R Prakash Reddy, A Revanth Reddy and others will head each committee.
Members of these committees will undertake field visits to study the implementation of various welfare schemes relating to their respective subject. At the same time, each committee will examine the poll promises made by the TRS on that particular subject.
These committees are requested to submit reports to the party leadership, listing the unfulfilled promises of the ruling party, flaws in the implementation of welfare schemes and corruption in each department at the ground level. Based on the findings, Telangana TDP President L Ramana said that they will intensify their struggle against the anti-people policies of the government.
