Film actress and `fire brand’ MLA R K Roja today asserted that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet colleagues have no moral right to attend the proposed Women Parliamentarians’ Conference in the state later this week, unless they tender an unconditional apology to the women.
According to her, the crime rate has increased by 11 per cent in the state and among four state ministers charged with atrocities on women in the entire country, two of them belongs to Andhra Pradesh. She deplored that during the last two and half years, women were targeted and harassed by TDP functionaries and ministers.
She said that a survey was conducted on the ministers who were charged with committing crimes against women in the entire country, has named four persons of which the first two names read as Umamaheshwara Rao Devinene, Krishna district and Atchan Naidu Kinjarapu, Srikakulam, which shows where the state stands on the national scale.
Added to this are the demeaning comments of Chief Minister on girl child, his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna’s indecent comments on women, pictures of unsavoury behaviour of Lokesh and all put together shows the state in a poor light when it comes to empowerment of women, she added.
The YSRCP leader further recalled that TDP leaders are involved in Call Money Sex racket which was hushed up, ministers’ kin were involved in attacks on women. She demanded suspension of TDP legislators Bode Prasad, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Budha Venkanna from the Assembly due to their involvement in Call Money issues along with Payyavula Keshav for his assault on a woman.
‘The scant respect TDP has for women has come to the fore when I was suspended for one year from the assembly which reflects the vindictive nature of the people in power. Anyone questioning them would not be tolerated and they would be targeted as it happened to me and to a dalit MLA/Speaker Kuthuhulamma earlier,’ she added.
