Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has indicated that here after his government will focus on rural growth rate. While in the first phase, the focus was on power supply, irrigation, rejuvenation of village tanks through programmes like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, he said that hereafter the focus would be on to make villages self-sufficient through encouragement of community-based professions.
Stating that people till now have seen only one side of development and welfare measures, he said that the next stage of growth plans will focus on rural economy, which would bring prosperity to all communities across the state. For which, he said the State government had a well-planned course of action to place Telangana in a higher orbit of development.
He is hopeful that the rural economy will flourish once the welfare schemes are implemented for about 25 lakh Yadavs (Golla and Kurma) and 40 lakh fishermen, for which the government had decided to give 75 per cent subsidy, while distributing 88 lakh sheep to four lakh Yadav families besides extending help for sheep-breeding and marketing. Chief Minister is hopeful that within two years, Yadavs will have assets worth Rs 20,000 crore within two years.
The concept of Human Resources Development in the past was seen from a myopic angle with importance merely given to certain sector. But Rao said that HR should encompass all sections of society including communities like fisher folks, Yadavs, goldsmiths and barbers.
Accusing that all these communities were marginalised during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era, he said that the ensuing budget will provide specific programmes for the empowerment of each and every community.
