Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has lost both Haridwar rural and Kichha seats. He lost in the Hardwar Rural to BJP’s Swami Yatishwaranand by 12000 votes. The Congress leader also contested from Kichha, where he lost to BJP’s Rajesh Shukla. The CM is all set to meet the governor to tender his resignation today.
At 1:45pm today, the BJP is leading in 52 seats and won 5eats, the Congress leads in 11 and won 2 while others are leading at two. BJP is likely to form government in the hill state with majority of 55 seats.
The two time CM was the single star campaigner for the Congress party in the state against Narendra Modi. The Modi’s statement to give BJP chance in the state formed by Vajpayee, worked in favor removing Congress and paving way to the Saffron Brigade.
Rawat returned as the chief minister in May 2016 when the Congress won a SC-ordered floor test. He was also the chief minister for a single day on April 23, 2016 when the Uttarakhand High Court put him back and dismissed the President’s rule in the state.
