HYDERABAD: The cash for vote scam seems to be taking a new turn everyday. While TDP MLA from Telangana, Revanth Reddy is already in the ACB custody as accused number one in the case, the recent alleged call recordings of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana nominated MLA Stephenson is creating sensation across the country.
It may be recalled that the sting operation of ACB showed Revanth Reddy offering Rs. 50 lakhs to Stephenson and even citing that the episode was done under the leadership of his boss and Babu; the telephone conversation leaks are apparently projecting that Babu is the boss in this episode, according to the experts.
Minutes after these tapes were telecast, the Andhra Pradesh Government’s media advisor, Parakala Prabhakar has plunged into the action and spoke to the media. He made scathing attack on the Telangana Governemnt and denied that the voice in the audio leaks was not that of Chandrababu Naidu. Contradicting his own statements, he went on to mentioni that the audio was fabricated and telephonic tapping was a crime.
Stressing on the future course of actioin, he said that AP Government took up this matter seriously and they would see the end. He, however, didn’t specify whose and which end he was referring to. He further reiterated that all constitutional, legal and political action would be invoked. The people of Andhra Pradesh would not remain mute spectators to this episode, he added.
The legal and political experts in two states have alleged that Parakala Prabhakar’s speech was provocative and he was allegedly trying to project the crime episode as the problem between two states. They even mentioned that Parakala, who is an advisor to the government, spoke like a party activist.
Chandrababu Naidu, however, remained tight lipped and left for Vijayawada to take part in the annual public meeting over completion of his one year governance.
The experts even opined that TDP must have played a safe dice. Had Chandrababu Naidu come before the media and said that the matter is prejudice and no reaction can be made in this issue, it would have undoubtedly protected the image of the party.
It has to be mentioned here that when A Raja, the then union minister, was prosecuted in the 2G Spectrum scam, the then union home minister played safe by stating that the matter was prejudice, when he was questioned by the national media.
