Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has informed the Hyderabad High Court that it could not trace out the source of Rs 50 lakh seized which was seized during cash-for-vote scandal in 2015. It however told the court that it is in pursuit of the truth and gathering information through scientific methods. It may be recalled that TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was trapped by ACB officials following a complaint from nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson that TDP was wooing him with hefty bribe to vote in favour of the TDP in 2015 MLC elections.
The ACB counsel further told the court that it is not correct that the investigating agency is indifferent in probing the case. The court was hearing the petition filed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu challenging the order of the ACB court to probe his alleged role in the scam recently two months ago.
After the arrest of Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, the ACB has recorded a phone conversation of the AP CM and Stephenson stirking the deal in the matter. Meanwhile, YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy filed a complaint in the court demanding probe against Naidu. Subsequently, the court referred the complaint to the Telangana DGP for investigation. Later, Naidu challenged the ACB’ move to probe stating that the petition filed by the YSRCP was politically motivated.
