A legal case has been filed against popular Telugu actor Venu Thottempudi by Rithvik Projects, a company owned by BJP MP CM Ramesh’s family. The dispute arises from a contract-related issue concerning a joint venture in Uttarakhand. In 2002, Progressive Construction Company, represented by Venu, partnered with Rithvik Projects to secure a contract for a hydroelectric project in Uttarakhand. However, Progressive Constructions withdrew midway, leading to significant financial losses for Rithvik Projects. Alleging breach of contract, Rithvik Projects approached the court, prompting the Nampally Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate to order the registration of a case against Venu and others involved.
Rithvik Projects, managed by CM Ramesh’s brother, is a well-known construction firm with a strong reputation for handling contracts across India. On the other hand, Venu, a prominent contractor and former BRS MP’s relative, shifted his focus to construction after a decline in film opportunities. The joint venture between the two companies turned controversial when disagreements over financial transactions arose, leading to the withdrawal of Progressive Constructions.
The Hyderabad Police have registered a case against Venu and other members of Progressive Construction based on the court’s orders. Neither Venu nor Rithvik Projects has publicly commented on the matter. Meanwhile, Venu has recently returned to acting, featuring in a web series and a few films.
