Both the children of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao received invitations from two prestigious events, outside the country. Last week, the prestigious Stanford University invited Telangana’s Industries and IT minister KT Rama Rao to deliver the key note address at its convocation to be held in California on May 18 and 19.
His sister and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha was invited early this week to London to participate in the Commonwealth Countries’ Women Parliamentarians conference scheduled to be held from February 24 to 27.
At the university convocation, the minister was asked to speak on entrepreneurship and utilisation of technologies in the background of Telangana’s development in the last two and half years. This is the second time Rao has been invited to speak at the Stanford University.
The Women Parliamentarians conference is aimed at encouraging women parliamentarian in Commonwealth countries and improve their representation in State Assemblies. The members will also discuss various subjects including challenges faced by women Parliamentarians in Commonwealth countries, drafting policy on women’s development, and difficulties faced by women in various countries.
The main objective of the Commonwealth Parliamentarians conference is to build confidence of women elected to Parliament to be more effective in their role, improve awareness and ability of all Parliamentarians and encourage them to include gender perspective in all aspects of their role and help Parliaments to become gender-sensitive instructions.
Kavitha will share her experiences and suggest measures for the strengthening of women’s role in politics. Later, she will take part in the get together function organised by the Unite Kingdom wing of Telagnana Jagruthi.
