Gowshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh ,Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other Hindu Organisations on Monday submitted a memorandom to Ranjeev R Acharya, speical chief secretary and in-harge vice chancellor,Osmania University, demanding cancellation of the beef festival being organized by some students on campus and take action against the organizers. During the meeting with the vice-chancellor at Secretariat,Hyderabad, MLA Raja Singh said consuming, serving beef on college campus hurts religious sentiments of Hindu community and this is against the college tradition.
“Education institutes are like temples and students should maintain the sanctity of place. But some miscreants have joined anti-social elements and are intentionally conducting beef festival to hurt religious feelings of Hindus. The 2012 beef festivals led to violence where the students were attacked with stones and sticks in which scores of students injured, college property was severely damaged and many RTC buses burnt,” the MLA said in the memorandum. The event, he urged the vice-chancellor, should not be allowed at any cost.
While addressing the media later he warned state government saying that beef festival shouldn’t be allowed to happen in the wake of Dadri incident. Raja Singh also demanded that if authority allows beef festival in Osmania university they should allow Gowmata Pooja on Osmania Campus. Chethan Janardhan, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti called all Hindus to join their movement to stop beef festival and also called upon Hindus to Participate in the protest on 5th December against beef festival at Dharna Chowk.
