As the stage is set for the second edition of the Partnership Summit begins today in Visakhapatnam, being conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in association with the Andhra Pradesh Government, the state government seems to be jubilant as already it claims of receiving investment intent of about Rs 6.83 crore, by last evening.
As many as 425 companies have sent proposals for investment. According to government sources it has received new investment proposals in industry, infrastructure, capital region, urban development, energy, tourism and IT sectors.
The summit will be inaugurated by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley. Besides him, Union Commerce and Industries Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, four more union ministers will be attending the event. CEOs representing around 100 global companies including Reliance, Walmart, Aditya Birla Group, Bharat Forge, Essar, Mitsubishi Suzlon, Apollo Hospitals, Fortis are expected to attend the summit.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been personally monitoring the summit since two years. He has been making efforts to makes the state a better investment destination. There will be a session on Sunrise Andhra Pradesh and issues relating to the State. In this session, the construction of the new capital, Amaravati, the great investment opportunities emerging in the State after bifurcation, and infrastructure-related issues will be discussed.
Meanwhile, the state government has confirmed that during last year’s partnership summit in Visakhapatnam, Rs. 4,67 lakh crore worth of MoUs were signed. The total number of committed projects stood at 328, generating employment to about 10 lakh persons.
Among these projects, the government states that 38 units have gone into production with an investment of Rs. 52,987 crore and 6 other units are into trial production and the investment is Rs. 1,519 crore. Besides, another 16 units got their machines erected which value around Rs.14,700 crore and in another 29 units civil works have commenced.
For another 13 units approvals are granted which value around Rs. 23,754 crores. Besides this, land has been allotted to 8 units which value around Rs. 6,611 crore.
