Popular comedian Kondavalsa breathed his last at KIMS today, he was suffering from diabetes and some other serious health related problems. He rose to fame and often gave credit to director EVV Satyanarayana for encouraging comedians in his movies. With the passing away of the director, comedians like him, Kota, Krishna Bhagawan, Geeta Singh and others presence became minimal and more contemporary actors like Saptagiri, Shakala Shankar have taken over.
Kondavalasa often rued that out producers import villains and heroines from Mumbai who cannot speak our language properly . He would say, “There are villains who cannot utter a word of Telugu and we during short gaps keep helping them out. The heroines too take two hours to get their dialogues right, there are four assistant directors helping her translate and they are accompanied by make up men, assistants, other relatives who travel by air. Why can’t the producers take our Telugu talent, pay them more and extract good work from our people?” Kondavalasa’s “Aithey Vokey” line was very popular, his last wish was to act in a sad role but he never got to do that.
