The digital platforms which are streaming films are paying huge amounts for the producers and the makers are earning massive money with the streaming rights. But these digital platforms are slowly turning a huge threat for the theatrical market. Already the theatrical business got badly affected across the Telugu states and the overseas numbers reached all-time low. Despite of the eight weeks agreements done, several streaming platforms are telecasting the films after the theatrical run is coming to an end.
Allu Arjun and Trivikram’s AlaVaikunthapurramuloo is releasing during the Sankranthi 2020 season. Bluesky Cinemas which is releasing the film in USA released a poster saying that ‘You won’t see the film on Amazon or Netflix’ which indicates the impact of digital platforms. Several buyers are urging the filmmakers not to allow the streaming platforms to telecast the films before eight weeks of the theatrical release.
It’s high time that everyone should wake up before the theatrical business of Telugu films tumbles down.
