The farmers of Amaravati capital villages have pledged to defeat YSR Congress and its chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the coming general elections. They said that they would make an appeal to the farmers across the state to vote against the YSR Congress in the general election.
The farmers in Amaravati villages held a protest meeting at Mandadam village on Thursday marking 1500th day of their protest. They said that they have been holding protests for the past 1500 days and their hard work would pay dividends.
The farmers wanted every family of the farmers in the state to vote against this government. They wanted the women in the farmers’ families to think twice before voting for the YSR Congress. They requested the farmers’ families to see the difficulties that they have been facing for the past four years.
This government will go in the next three months and a new government will come, the farmers said. They further said that the new government would develop Amaravati as the only capital of the state.
They blamed the chief minister for neglecting Amaravati development which was proposed by the previous government as the only capital of the state. The farmers have sacrificed their lands by giving them to the government in the land pooling system. The farmers have not taken money from the government as compensation for their lands, they said.
The farmers said that their multi-crop lands were given to the government thinking that it would develop the area as the capital of the state. The previous government had proposed nine cities in the capital and that would have changed their lives, the farmers said.
The farmers, however, said that the present government had brought a new plan to have three capitals for the state. The farmers are opposed to the three capitals, they said and added that even the political parties, except the YSR Congress, were also opposed to the three capitals plan.
They blamed the YSR Congress government for completely ignoring the Amaravati plan. The present government would be washed away in the tears of the farmers, they said. They also appealed to the agriculture labourers in the state to vote against the YSR Congress and ensure that Amaravati is developed as the only capital of the state.
