Pawan Kalyan’s speech at Janasena Formation Day Meeting
Janasena Formation Day Meeting witnessed one of the largest crowd turnouts for a political gathering in the last four years. History has proven that larger crowds do not mean success in politics. We believe Pawan Kalyan is aware of the fact, given his experience in ‘Praja Rajyam Party’.
The speech started with fiery words ‘Yuvatharaniki ye sampadha vidichipettam, Yuddham, Raktham, Kanneeru Thappaa! The speech went on for almost 1hr 40 minutes. In a well-articulated, and structured speech, Pawan Kalyan went on to bash Centre, and TDP party in particular. He alleged that Nara Lokesh has been the centre of corruptive practices in the state.
Pawan Kalyan’s speech can be broken into three parts:
- Criticizing Arun Jaitley and the Centre
- His stint with TDP and Chandrababu Naidu
- AP SCS and Future with Janasena
Criticizing Arun Jaitley and the Centre
Though this is not the first time, Pawan Kalyan is seen expressing his dissatisfaction over the Centre, he has got some historical references, highlighting the Indian Government’s stance towards Andhra Pradesh even during Congress rule. His mention of 1972 AP bifurcation proposal and 1987 BJP-Kakinada incidents failed to create the kind of excitement, he might have expected from the crowd. Overall, Pawan Kalyan’s comments towards Arun Jaitley and Centre were more as a reminder of what the Centre is doing, against what it has promised. Except for his linguistic ability in English, there is nothing people can know, or people had to know from his speech.
His Stint with TDP and Chandrababu Naidu
Pawan Kalyan wanted to make sure that, he is not a puppet in hands of TDP and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. To an extent, he was successful in his attempt, and in fact, spoke the unexpected; lashing out at TDP, Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh.
This came as a shocking surprise, especially to YSRCP, which has been naming Pawan Kalyan as TDP agent and paid the artist. From his speech, it is quite clear that Janasena will go all guns blazing from here on. The 2019 AP Assembly elections are only getting more interesting with each day passing by. Pawan Kalyan’s ‘tentative’ mention of corruption allegations against Nara Lokesh and Chandrababu’s failed governance sent a clear signal that Pawan Kalyan is no more an ally, but only a foe.
The Janasena Chief made it clear that, because residual AP (after bifurcation) needs an experienced Chief Minister, he has backed Chandrababu Naidu.
Pawan Kalyan’s mention of closed-door talks with Chandrababu Naidu hinted that the actor is opening a new age of politics. ‘Chandrababu Naidu garu initially stated that we will build an excellent capital in 1500 – 2000 acres. Later, the number grew to over 33,000 acres. I have no idea why the number has changed so quickly?’, said Pawan Kalyan, exposing the other side of Chandrababu Naidu.
He linked Nara Lokesh with Sekhar Reddy, who was arrested by the IT sleuths. Pawan Kalyan also stated that he has heard from sources that Chandrababu Naidu has gone to Delhi number of times; 29 times to be exact, only to save his son, and that is the reason he is scared of PM Modi. This statement clearly casts doubts over CBN’s claim that, he is going to Delhi for the sake of Andhra Pradesh development.
Other promises like naming welfare programs after prominent leaders and activists, sops to backward classes, and criticizing others parties can be struck off as a mere ‘election strategy’.
AP SCS and Future with Janasena
Another surprise came in this aspect too. Pawan Kalyan did not reveal the names key party members. Instead, he opened up on AP Special Category Status and made a couple of key announcements.
In an attempt to safeguard his image, the actor-turned-politician made it clear that it is a conspiracy of a political party to provoke some youth asking to attack him. At the same time, he took the opportunity to highlight the fact that TDP’s 2014 manifesto had promises that were impossible to be fulfilled.
Possibly for the first time, it looked like he would give a clear stance on protesting for AP SCS. Even this time around, Pawan Kalyan played safe, but kept the option of ‘Amarana Nirahara Deeksha’ opened, if required in the future.
It felt like his political journey has surely brought in some maturity, and the knack to woo the audience, especially the younger ones. When he uttered that the statements that, ‘the youth need no come onto the roads, sacrificing their education, and employment; and he would fight on behalf of them’, clearly exposed the politician who has been hiding from the public for quite a while.
Despite telling that he is not a tech-savvy individual, he made sure that, enrolling as Janasena member is a missed call away. The way he tried to knit the ‘Janasena Membership’, and his statement of ‘a call away’ did have a considerable impact.
Factually speaking, it is nice to see a hint of political diplomacy from Pawan Kalyan recently.
Whatever be it, Janasena Formation Day meeting ‘remained’ as ONE MAN SHOW! Something, media and people are bored off!
Conclusion:
A meeting that was initially expected to launch the key members of Janasena turned out to be a coliseum, where Pawan Kalyan had all the space, time, and especially a sea of Janasena cadre to condemn, criticize, and corner BJP, and TDP in particular. His comments on AP SCS can definitely pull in more supporters, and sympathizers for the party. Rather than distancing himself from TDP, he made sure that TDP shall distance itself from Janasena from here on.
Pawan Kalyan has successfully pulled-off the ‘ONE MAN SHOW’ yet again, with election sops, and a basketful of hopes for the Telugu people.
